In addition to helping keen Aussie supporters establish Christian radio to outreach into their own communities, UCB Australia mentors other Christian broadcasters in the Pacific region.

UCB PNG broadcasts primarily in the East Sepik region, where there are 89 individual language groups. Pijin is the unifying tongue and is used by the presenters who find that story-telling is the best way of communicating in a culture where stories are so important.  Music is also an important part of the sound mix. Many local Christian artists are making an impact in PNG through songs in pijin or simple English.

The primary audience of UCB PNG is youth. Even in the villages, the elders feel they are losing touch with young people. Traditional discipline is breaking down as young people drift to the cities looking for work or a different future. UCB PNG is seeking to make a solid Biblical input into the lives of both urban and village kids and young adults.

UCB International has helped with the major set-up of the operation, while UCB Australia has ‘daughtered’ this project in our northern neighbour through assistance with training, programming concepts and maintenance.
