People Impacted by UCB Australia's Ministry

There are many general individual testimonies below. However this first one is a very special one because it's about the transformation of an entire community after Vision arrived in the area:

Baptisms at MULAN, January 2013

Baptisms in Mulan, WA

Mulan is one of the most remote communities in Australia. It’s also one of the most expensive places to live in this country.

In early 2012, local resident Shirley Brown approached Chariots of Fire ministries about getting Vision radio in town. She believed it would help reduce the number of disputes in town and bring the people together.

UCB was thrilled to be able to help this isolated and impoverished desert community. On 3 October last year, Vision Mulan 88.0 FM officially became our 118th installation in Western Australia when it was put in place on the local Catholic school.

The transformation began right away. The local store sold out of transistor radios that had stayed on the shelf for years. With not enough to go around, the community started to come together for meals so they could listen to Vision and watch GOD TV. The people felt blessed by what they were hearing and experiencing.

Two people – rapidly escalating to twelve – decided they wanted to respond to the call of the Gospel and be baptised. So they got in touch with a church in Kununurra, over 500 km away by air.

Here, in a summary of Greg’s words, is a testimony of the events of the day:

“We needed to be in the air by 7 am as we had to fly to Halls Creek (in the Lord’s perfect timing, Brian and I were at Mount Elizabeth station as he had a job to do for Telstra). We met Terri the Pastor from Kings Church of Kununurra. We also met Wendy one of the elders. They were driving down and we were all to meet at the airport, repack and be on our way to Mulan to baptise at least 12 people (and maybe 20) in Lake Gregory.

We arrived at the community and performed a flyover so they would know to come and pick us up from the airfield. We unloaded Bibles, clothes and giveaways for the children.

The excitement was starting to build up amongst us as we were all expecting a great day.

We met the CEO of the community, Stuart, and had a very interesting talk on the ins and outs of life in this part of the outback—the testing and inspiring times they go through here.

As the numbers had grown a bit and the transport was a little scarce, time was not going to allow the baptisms to take place in the lake. A scramble took place to find somewhere else. A small pool was suggested but that seemed to disappear. Betsy, a local, offered an old fridge. The idea was to fill the fridge and with the aid of a hose, the baptisms would begin, but no, the fridge had a hole and would not hold water. So it was the hose only.

As they all lined up, Pastor Terri proceeded to pray and baptise them individually: the joy and peace they showed was serene. It was a great privilege for me to be a part of this experience and to watch this new beginning happening in front of my eyes. I really cannot describe my feelings though, there are no words I can find to really pass on what I was seeing and feeling. All I can say is I was alive and praise God that he chose me to be part of it. PRAISE THE LORD.

Bibles, CDs and small tokens were handed out and the way some of those Bibles were held to their hearts was truly uplifting. They were all very proud, especially Betsy.

God through the Holy Spirit that day started a movement that will grow and flourish through these communities. They are blessed.

As we waited for our transport, three more wanted to be baptised. So the total for that day of people giving their lives to Jesus and being baptised was 32—a quarter of the community. WOW WOW WOW.

We parted an hour later than we really wanted because storm clouds, thunder, lightning and heavy rain was on its way. We prayed for safe passage back to Halls Creek and, despite storms on both sides, we were granted that safe passage right to unpacking the plane and reloading. Then the heavens opened! All I can say is thank you Lord; the power of prayer is awesome.

Thanks to Christian media this community was and will continue to be blessed by our great God. Now we must share the results of this amazing experience.

I will forever carry that day in my heart as I’m sure so will the others. It was a great blessing to be there with Pastor Terri, Wendy, Brian and others who organised this special day.

General Testimonies

Every day, we receive messages from listeners and readers telling us how God has worked through UCB to draw people closer to Himself. Here is just a small selection from listeners and readers who have either come to know Him for the first time, had their faith rekindled or experienced the wonder of prayer answered in a miraculous way.

From Vision listeners

Just want to say thank you...I listen to Vision at work all day and find it very encouraging. My wife has been sick for a long time and everyday from 6 am she tunes into Vision on her phone and listens on and off all day. She has found it encouraging and very informative. Vision has helped her get through a very difficult time...thank you again. RS

Vision radio is going all day in our house. We have a sheep farm and I cook for 8-15 men. So they hear Vision when they come into the house to eat. They say grace with us and Vision just sets the whole tone for the day. AR

Praise be to God for Vision! Vision has and does play a very important role in my life. Having gone through some very challenging times and finding myself in a spiritual wilderness, Vision has been there encouraging me to keep focused on the ONE who is the author and finisher of our faith. My personal thanks to all involved with Vision. DP

I would like to sincerely thank you and all those that make Vision possible...on behalf of all of us that make up the church here. God continues to pour out his manifold blessings on us daily. All of us in the church receive daily favour from officers and other inmates, as well as in places of work. (This is a working prison and we have a number of industries here.) ...Just this week we had a young fellow (from a Muslim background) give his heart to and commit his life to the Lord. And in the last six months or so another 2 (at least that I can think of, there may be more) so God is blessing us and using the church here to bless others. God is indeed great. BD

Friends of UCBFrom The Word for Today readers:

I was given a copy of this wonderful book by a friend - The Word for Today is the best devotional book I have ever used and I am now in my seventies. The "black dog" often attacks me and the uplifting words in your book has helped my so much. Thank you for your amazing ministry. GS

I am so thankful for the simple yet deep and challenging daily readings and insights, not just for myself, but for my son who has committed himself to reading The Word for Today each morning. He has lately been excited to share his faith with workmates who are keen to know the reason his life is different – a huge step for a shy teenager surrounded by hard-working 'hard-living' Aussie blokes. I know God is using UCB resources to further 'the good work' He is perfecting in us and all your other readers and listeners. S

I would like to thank you for sending me The Word for Today for the last four years while in prison. I had to do a lot of soul searching, and having the Word to fall back on at times really helped me get through my seven year sentence. I get out in three weeks and going home to my wife, bless her, and to help care for my mother. These two women have stood by me all the way through this ordeal, so thank you again for helping me understand God's work and the love He shares with us all. HS

From word4U2day readers:

I am in jail at the moment. I am receiving The Word for Today while I'm in here and it is really helping me like you wouldn't believe. I have grown stronger for God and my faith has grown dramatically. I am actually out of jail soon and it would be a real big disappointment to stop reading this book. It would be highly appreciated if you could please not forget me and please keep sending me the book. As I am 21 I would like to receive word4U2day

A few months ago someone gave me about 30 copies of word4U2day for my congregation. Most of our people are not young people but many are new to church, seeking God , and for a number of them English is not their first language. They have found these devotionals easy to read and understand, and I have been very pleased with the response as many are starting to get into the Bible now. PL

word4U2day is just simply AMAZING! I found it hard reading my Bible and understanding some passages, but now I use word4U2day as a guideline and I feel myself being spiritually fed everyday! Smile Our God Is Just Simply Amazing And Worth All The Glory! VTM.

Friends of UCBFrom PrayForMe answers:

I want to thank everyone who prayed for us. Just yesterday we received an answer which was nothing short of miraculous. After requesting prayer, I was led to put a proposal to the company which would mean that my department would have employment. Once or twice while I was working on the proposal, I wondered why I was wasting my time. Companies do not reverse their decision to retrench once they have made up their minds. Time would have been better spent updating my CV. However, I kept being brought back to my proposal, and was led by God with Scriptures from Esther 4: 13-14. His Mighty hand then worked after I sent my proposal in. It was approved! The bottom line is that none of my staff are going to be retrenched, and we heard officially yesterday. When receiving the news, my heart was singing: Our God is an awesome God, He reigns from Heaven above! Thank you for your prayer, which God heard and honoured. T

Thank you for all your prayers. Our dear friend has made a full recovery and is now discharged from hospital. It is a true miracle from God because he has defied all the medical odds. He was without a heart beat for over a half an hour and now is with us again. We look forward to hearing his testimony once he is back and also about his mission trip prior to the heart attack.

From UCB Direct customers:

You provide dynamic relative material to what is happening in the world today. It is honest and transparent and needs to get out to so many more people. Keep up the excellent work. SM

Chuck was great, I thoroughly enjoyed it and when he comes to Australia again I will be there, God willing. LW

I love hearing Chuck on the radio & I buy his teaching material all the time, but actually seeing him in person was totally awesome. M M
