'A good man leaves an inheritance for his children's children... '  Proverbs 13:22 NKJV

Ian WorbyDear Friends,

Have you ever considered what difference your life will have made to this world, your community or your family after you have passed on?

We all want our lives to count for something, we want to be remembered and spoken well of. Most of all, deep down we all crave to hear our Lord say ‘Well done, thou good and faithful servant’.

So what is this sense of significance we all crave?

The Bible says that our life is but a vapour, like grass or the flowers of the fields, here but for a moment in time. It also speaks about the importance of building a legacy that can be passed on to the next generation.

We read in proverbs 13:22 a good man leaves an inheritance for his children’s, children. We are encouraged to sit our children on our knees and to tell them the precepts and principles of God, so that they will not be forgotten. And we are told be careful about this as it could be lost in a single generation.

We are also shown that our legacy is connected to our personal stewardship of possessions and how we invest our property, time and interest. In the parable of the wealthy successful farmer, who thought he would amass his possessions into barns, the Lord said ‘Fool! This night your soul will be required of you; then whose will those things be which you have provided?’ Luke 12:13-21 NKJV

In Proverbs 11:25 & 30 we see that in Gods economy those who refresh others are refreshed, and if we invest in winning souls then we are considered to be wise.

Jesus instructed his disciples not to store up possessions that will wear out, rust or can be stolen. So let’s invest in things far precious and eternal, ie the eternal souls of our family and friends.

This year we celebrate the legacy of a most amazing yet largely lesser known man, King James. It is 400 years ago that he brought the world the now famous King James Bible (1611), and in doing so made the Word of God readily accessible to the common man and women.

In one sense King James was the first true broadcaster or mass media provider of the Gospel.

Today we desire to build on this broadcasting legacy.

While we have already achieved a great deal, we also see that there is still much work to be done to reach the multitudes who are still in darkness, in the valley of decision who either do not know Christ or who need to be strengthened and encouraged in their journey of faith.

Together with you we are building a lasting legacy, of real fruit that will remain, as we see lives and communities changed for good.

I also think that it is beyond coincidence that 1611 is also the frequency of some of the exciting new higher powered AM Vision radio stations we have recently established. Already Melbourne and Adelaide have Vision 1611AM and I am most excited to report in the very near future 1611AM in the densely populated Western Suburbs of Sydney should also be coming on air!

But whether it is a small remote outback town or a great big bustling city, I know Christ has called us to be faithful servants working in His great harvest field of these last days.

Will you please prayerful consider how you can stand with me and UCB as we Build a Legacy Together for this and the next generation. A legacy of real Hope , faith and Love.

Through Visionathon we need to see $500,000 pledged to enable us to continue this work and to secure and maintain these important opportunities to broadcast trusted Christian media and proclaim the Gospel across Australia.

Visionathon is the time, twice a year, when we ask all our listeners and supporters for an extra gift. Your tax deductable donation or pledge of $50, $100, or $1,000 or whatever amount the Lord directs or enables you will be a real and significant investment towards this legacy being built.

God bless you as you give generously and cheerfully in Jesus’ Strong and Mighty Name
