March : Abuse

‘The Lord is my rock, my fortress and my deliverer; my God is my rock, in whom I take refuge, my shield and the horn of my salvation. He is my stronghold, my refuge and my savior - from violent men you save me.’ 2 Sam 22:2-3

When we remove our focus from God and follow the world instead, we invariably become more selfish and more susceptible to temptation. We find ourselves in situations which we’re poorly equipped to handle because we’ve distanced ourselves from God’s Word.

In March, we focus on the ‘giant’ of abuse.

This can include self-inflicted abuse such as eating disorders and drug and alcohol abuse. In also includes abuse by another, such as physical, mental or sexual abuse.

The most important thing that we need to remember when addressing this issue is that our value comes from God, not from man.

If we sin, we can repent and God promises that He will forgive us.

If we are victims of abuse, we can come to Christ for healing and restoration. We will be made whole again through His sacrifice! We can then pray for our enemies and those who persecute us.

Let’s combat this ‘giant’ through:

1. sincere repentance
2. prayer & fasting
3. dedication to the Word
4. godly action
5. speaking truth
