January: Abandoning our Christian heritage
‘For day after day they seek me out; they seem eager to know my ways, as if they were a nation that does what is right and has not forsaken the commands of its God. They ask me for just decisions and seem eager for God to come near them.’ Is 58:2
As we prepare to celebrate another Australia Day in freedom and plenty, we have much for which to praise God.
But as we do so, let’s be mindful that our nation is steadily neglecting the Christian values upon which it was established.
This is evidenced by the ways in which our leaders and role models forsake our national identity by promoting foreign media, attitudes and expressions; by the younger generations not being taught Christian morals; and by the unbalanced promotion and of minority religions.
We need to seek the rededication of Australia to God, Who is our sole protector.
Let’s begin by asking for forgiveness however we have turned from God, and praying for strong Christian leaders to rise up and realign Australia with God’s Word.
Let’s combat this ‘giant’ through:
1. sincere repentance
2. prayer & fasting
3. dedication to the Word
4. godly action
5. speaking truth
